19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first title for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

Victory also means he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, featuring in that event in the past months.

His defensive play style and regular outbursts on court had led observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to create a final set.

The opponent saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he secured the title with a rally at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
